Job description

Description Under general supervision, the Parks Maintenance Worker maintains parks including open spaces, athletic fields, facilities, and provides Brush Recycling Center support. Work involves assisting in the recycling center and performing various duties to support special events. Posted pay range is the starting salary.

Pay rate offered is based on experience. Examples of Duties Maintains grounds by mowing, edging, and trimming park areas; removes weeds and trims flower beds; performs irrigation checks and repairs; replaces fences; repairs playground structures and cleans trails. Maintains athletic fields by trimming fields; ensures proper watering; sets bases and shaves infields; aerates and applies chemicals for weeds and pests Performs daily rounds of facilities to pick up trash, empty cans and inspect areas for damage/vandalism.

Maintains facilities including painting/repairing/replacing. Provide maintenance and repair for facilities and park amenities, shelters, buildings, playgrounds, etc. May maintain yard facility by repairing doors, gates, fence and minor repairs; washes windows; clean off driveways; clean and organize; present a proper driveway.

Assists in the recycling center by performing customer service duties. Pushes brush into grinder; loads mulch into compactors; moves mulch from underneath; throws lumber in dumpster. Completes paperwork associated with customer service and revenue.

Handles money for brush drop off and mulch sale charges at BRC. Operates heavy equipment, including a tub grinder and front end loader, to process and grind mulch. Cleans restrooms, driveways, power washes pavilions, cleans windows Maintains and completes minor repairs of heavy equipment to keep them safe and operational.

Check fluids in the vehicle when necessary; maintains air pressure in tires; cleans filters, radiators, and vehicles. Supports all tree planting. Assists with annual Christmas tree recycling and seedling giveaway.

Assists in tree cleanup work after storms. Supports special events by setting up, tearing down and other miscellaneous duties. Experience and Training High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Six (6) months experience in general labor. Certificates and Licenses Required Current Texas Class C driver license or the ability to obtain prior to employment. May require additional certification or licenses depending on assigned area.
