Job description

Earnings up to $100,000 a year BASED ON PERFORMANCE AND PRODUCTION, potential to make more depending on work ethic and efficiency. Driver's license not required. To make your job easier, we utilize cranes, manlifts that fit in tight areas, remote controller stump grinders, rolloff dumpsters for logs, mini and big skids. Thornton's Tree Service has been in business since 1991!

We are a locally owned and operated tree service company serving the Abilene area with a reputation for safety, professionalism, and top-quality work. As our team grows, we’re looking for a skilled and motivated Lead Trimmer for our tree crews to head up field operations and ensure every job is done efficiently and safely.
Job Summary:
The Lead Trimmer will be responsible for managing a small team of tree workers, ensuring job site safety, operating equipment, and trimming or removing trees and branches as needed. You’ll be the go-to person on-site, making decisions and working directly with customers and management.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and lead a crew of 2-3 ground hands.
  • Most be proficient in Tree climbing, roping, rigging, saddles, climbing equipment.
  • Safe operation of chainsaws, rigging systems, ropes, saddles, and climbing equipment.
  • Strong understanding of ANSI Z133 safety standards and proper PPE use.
  • Operate and work from a manlift as needed.
  • Trim, prune, and remove trees and large limbs safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and team members.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety guidelines and company standards.

Requirements:
  • Experience operating a manlift (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of tree trimming and removal techniques.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Able to operate heavy equipment such as stump grinders, mini skids, big skids, and mini loaders.
  • Experience working with and around cranes (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and be subjected to random drug tests throughout employment.
  • Driver's license not required.
