Job description


This role serves as a trusted problem-solver and partner across teams, working through payment exceptions, researching discrepancies, and ensuring transactions were executed accurately. The position is responsible for resolving payment and accounting-related issues across treasury operations with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and strong risk controls. Key responsibilities include conducting payment and accounting research, investigating discrepancies, monitoring and decisioning positive pay exceptions, and processing payment returns with supporting accounting entries. This role also manages bank account services and signer maintenance, while partnering with the compliance team to support fraud detection and recovery efforts.
This position will also serve as backup support for core treasury operations, including executing wires and EFT payments, monitoring daily cash positions, and assisting with short-term cash planning.
Success in this role will require attention to detail, clear and accurate communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners. This role will offer the opportunity to work on treasury functions which touch all parts of the Ameritas enterprise.
This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE) and partially from home.
What you do:
  • Investigate and resolve payment and accounting discrepancies, including ACH, wire activity, returns, and other treasury transactions.
  • Perform positive pay monitoring and exception decisioning to mitigate fraud risk and ensure adherence to controls.
  • Process payment returns and complete associated accounting entries accurately and timely.
  • Manage bank account services, including account maintenance and signer updates.
  • Partner with compliance to identify, escalate, and support fraud recovery efforts.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure the integrity and accuracy of all treasury-related activities.
  • Provide responsive support to internal and external stakeholders by researching and resolving payment-related inquiries.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation within treasury operations.
  • Prioritize daily work to meet intraday deadlines and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Support backup treasury activities as needed, including payment execution and basic cash positioning.
  • Adhere to a consistent approach to ensure that controls are in place to maintain the financial integrity of the company.

What you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in treasury, accounting, banking, or finance required.
  • Previous treasury specific experience strongly desired.
  • Banking industry knowledge or experience is desired.
