Job description

Friendship is looking for a Cook to join our new Bistro ’66 team, located in Roanoke, VA. The Cook is responsible for preparing daily meals for residents, staff and visitors. They will monitor food handling, storage and serving.


Shifts Available:

  • Full Time 8 hour shifts – Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. daily

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Correctly and safely uses kitchen equipment and utensils for food preparation, service and cleaning
  • Abide by facility policies and procedures as well as laws and regulations related to food safety and sanitation
  • Prepares quality, nutritious foods by following direction/assignments; prepares special foods by request on forecast sheets
  • Follows cleaning schedule of equipment and areas as assigned, to include walls, floors and cooking equipment
  • Uses communication sheets to tell staff which foods have been prepared and seeks approval for any changes or substitutions
  • Understands and uses forecasting, work production and communication sheets
  • Checks tray line after meals for leftovers

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Cook experience preferred
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public
