Job description

Commercial Tile & Resilient Flooring Installer - Traveling Position

Are you a skilled craftsperson, looking to grow your skill and career? At Trimerge Construction Group, we believe in empowering our people to reach their full potential while delivering world-class commercial renovations that exceed every client's expectations. We’re seeking a skilled, motivated Traveling Flooring Installer who takes immense pride in their craftsmanship and technical expertise to join our high-performance team.

Joining Trimerge means becoming part of a professional and supportive team environment that is fully committed to your success. We offer:

  • Career Advancement: Clear opportunities for growth within a company that invests in its people.

  • Consistent Schedule: Steady work with opportunities for additional overtime.

  • Lodging: Company-provided lodging at all project locations.

  • Per Diem: A $50 daily per diem to cover your expenses while on the road.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Hands-On Execution: Perform a wide range of commercial flooring tasks with a strong focus on high-quality finish work. This includes the installation of ceramic tile, porcelain, and natural stone, as well as non-resinous systems such as Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP), Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), VCT, rubber flooring, and carpet tile.

  • Surface Preparation & Installation: Competently execute substrate preparation (skimming, patch/feather finish, self-leveling, and moisture mitigation) to ensure a perfectly flat surface for LVP/LVT, as well as floating mud beds and backer board for tile.

  • Layout & Planning: Read and interpret project specifications and drawings to accurately lay out work, centering patterns, minimizing cuts, and ensuring precise square footage coverage for both tile grids and plank staggers.

  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the Site Supervisor and other crew members to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

  • Quality Control: Uphold Trimerge’s standards for excellence by performing self-inspections of your work to ensure a high-quality, defect-free installation (checking for tight seams, proper adhesive transfer, lippage, and pattern alignment).

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and the entire team.

  • Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and report on-site issues to the Site Supervisor, offering practical solutions where possible to keep the project moving forward.

Job Qualifications:

  • Accurate measuring and math skills required (specifically for square footage calculations and pattern layout).

  • Good physical condition and dexterity.

  • Deep knowledge of commercial flooring materials, tools, and techniques.

  • Demonstrated expertise in resilient flooring installation (glue-down and click-lock LVP/LVT, VCT layout, heat welding is a plus) as well as standard tile setting.

  • Proficiency in using wet saws, vinyl cutters, floor scrapers, and proper trowel selection for various adhesives.

  • The ability to read and interpret commercial construction blueprints and finish schedules is mandatory.

  • Strong understanding of job site safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as part of a larger team.

  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively for extended periods is a firm requirement of this position.

  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
