General Purpose: Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant assists nurses, providers, and care navigators to support patient-care related functions. Medical Assistants are a critical and valued part of STRIDE's care team. This role may be required to travel to other clinics for coverage, as needed. When necessary and after appropriate training/competency validation, the Medical Assistant may perform front-office functions including, but not limited to registering/checking-in patients, obtaining co-pay, obtaining consent, working registration error queues, and other duties as assigned by the Front Desk supervisor or Business Operations.
Essential Duties/Position Responsibilities:
  • Performs examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures within scope of practice and in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; appropriately responding to emergency codes; communicating safety issues/concerns timely and appropriately.
  • Maintains patient care and non-patient care records in a confidential, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Prepares paperwork for provider signature by completing as much information as possible before submitting to provider.
  • Escalates patient/customer concerns to professional/licensed staff when appropriate.
  • Performs opening and closing lab procedures including quality control, autoclaving, and packaging of instruments.
  • Examples of routine work/tasks include but are not limited to: coordinating a pre-visit planning session (i.e. huddle), rooming patients in preparation for their visit, pre and post visit patient care in accordance with STRIDE policies, performing "Nurse" or "Medical Assistant" visits for specimen collection or protocolized care, scheduling internal/external patient appointments, instructing/educating patients on topics appropriate to scope, maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and notifying clinic leader when supply ordering is required.
  • Registers, checks-in, and checks-out patients for all services.
  • Collects and uploads all necessary documentation and consents.
  • Promptly and accurately updates patient records including financial and demographic information.
  • Collects copayment and account balances at time of service.
  • Completes annual competency assessment.
  • Adheres to professional standards, policies/procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, accreditation standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required: Active BLS Certified
  • Required: Medical Assistant certificate of completion (MA) - Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
  • Certified MA Certification (CCMA, CMA, RMA) is preferred , but not required
  • Additional language proficiency (bilingual) is highly preferred .
  • 1 year back-office experience or other proven proficiency preferred .

Working Environment and Physical Activities
Office environment within a clinical setting. Enters data into computer programs via computer, mouse and keyboard. Moves/transports objects up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally. Communicates information to others. Discerns/analyzes information from others to assist in decision making.

Pay Information
We offer a competitive hourly range of $21.59 - $27.19 for Non-Certified Medical Assistants and $22.59 - $28.19 for Certified Medical Assistants, depending on your experience.
This range reflects STRIDE's good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary for the selected candidate will be determined based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, specialty, and training.
