Job description

The Pipefitter will be responsible for utilizing critical isometric drawings to cut and fit pipe together for various types of process specifications. The main functions of the pipefitter role will include handling, measuring and marking pipes for cutting, threading, fitting and welding. Pipefitters are required to plan piping system layouts and can install accordingly with and without prints. Pipefitters will work with various valves, fittings, specialties and associated piping components and materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, CPVC, HDPE and copper.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interprets sketches, arrangement drawings and isometric drawings.
  • Cleans, bevels, prepares and installs pipe with various fittings and weld joints.
  • Performs layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings.
  • Installs pipe and related materials and equipment.
  • Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Cuts pipe using assorted power tools including grinders, band saws, beveling torches, etc.
  • Threads pipe using threading machine.
  • Secures pipe to structure with brackets, clamps and/or hangers, using hand and power tools.
  • Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and/or supplies.
  • Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of material and work pieces during installation.
  • Maintains tools and equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations. Including but not limited to wearing safety equipment such as safety glasses, face masks, gloves, work boots, harnesses and/or other required PPE relevant to job site.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Possess valid identification to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Knowledge on operating equipment including pipe threader, burning torch, grinder, porta-band machine, chain falls, hands tools, fork trucks, high reach equipment, etc.
  • Able to effectively communicate with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Repetitive movement.
  • Physical ability to climb and access steel framework, ladders, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 3-7 years of Pipefitting experience
