Who We Are
Paul Phillips Eye & Surgery Center is a physician-owned multi-specialty ophthalmic practice that offers comprehensive eyecare services in surgical and medical retina, cataract and refractive surgery, uveitis, glaucoma, oculoplastic, contact lens fitting and supply, and full service optical. The main location is in Flemington, NJ with two satellite offices in Bridgewater, NJ and Clinton, NJ.
Who You Are
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our team of eye care professionals in our Flemington, Bridgewater, and Clinton, NJ offices. As an integral part of our ophthalmology practice, the Ophthalmic Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately documenting real-time interactions between physicians and patients, maintaining electronic health records (EHR), and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
What You'll Do
  • Accurately document patient visits and physician-patient interactions in the electronic health records (EHR) system, ensuring timely submission to the billing office.
  • Assist physicians with patient workups, testing, and administrative tasks related to lab orders, imaging requests, obtaining medical records, and completing patient correspondence.
  • Proactively anticipate physicians' needs during patient encounters through active listening and situational awareness.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Ensure availability of required medications for patient visits by understanding physician schedules and preparing in advance.
  • Travel to and work from our three office locations in Flemington, Bridgewater, and Clinton, NJ as needed.

What You Bring
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, particularly within the field of ophthalmology.
  • Accurate record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
  • Professionalism, positivity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have experience in ophthalmology.
  • Scribe experience.
  • COA or COT certification is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Work Schedule and Location:
Full-time with occasional evenings and occasional Saturdays. Must be able to travel to 3 locations - Flemington, NJ; Clinton, NJ; and Bridgewater, NJ
