Travel Consultant

Turning Your Passion for Travel into a Rewarding Sales Career

As a Travel Consultant, you will participate in a structured training program designed to develop expertise in travel sales, customer relationship management, business development, and customized travel planning. Through hands-on coaching and professional development, you'll learn how to build lasting client relationships, grow a personal book of business, and deliver exceptional travel experiences.

This position is designed as a developmental role with the goal of progressing into a Travel Consultant position based on demonstrated performance, sales achievement, customer service excellence, and successful completion of training requirements.

Position Summary

The Travel Consultant Trainee is a sales-focused position that combines travel planning, relationship building, networking, and business development. In this role, you will work directly with clients to recommend and sell travel products, create customized itineraries, and develop long-term customer relationships.

Success in this role requires strong sales aptitude, organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and a proactive approach to generating new business through referrals, networking, and community engagement.

Training Program

AAA provides comprehensive training through Auto Club University, designed to equip Travel Consultant Trainees with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.

Training includes:

  • Travel product knowledge
  • Itinerary creation and vacation planning

Consultative sales techniques

  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Lead generation and prospecting
  • Travel systems and technology
  • Client service excellence

The trainee program may require occasional travel for training and educational opportunities.

  • Manage prospects throughout the entire sales cycle, from initial consultation through booking and post-travel follow-up.

  • Consistently achieve or exceed established sales, service, and productivity goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Work Environment

This is an on-site, sales-focused role that combines travel consultations, customer relationship management, business development, and community engagement.

Successful Travel Consultants actively build their client base by developing local relationships, attending networking and community events, generating referrals, and promoting AAA Travel services.

Availability to work most Saturdays and occasional evenings may be required to support customer needs and business objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to pass applicable pre-employment screenings, including background requirements
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and multiple web-based systems
  • Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-motivated with a customer-focused mindset and strong relationship-building skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of consultative sales experience
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Experience with business development, prospecting, networking, lead generation, or CRM systems
  • Experience in hospitality, retail sales, customer service, financial services, or other relationship-driven sales environments
  • Passion for travel and familiarity with travel destinations, travel products, or itinerary planning

Our Travel Consultants start with an hourly rate of $23.50. After completion of our training program, Travel Consultants successfully meeting sales goals earn on average between $58,500 - $71,600 with the opportunity of uncapped incentives.
