Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a dual-unit IMC/Progressive Care assignment requiring telemetry oncology, cardiac, and ventilator experience at a Magnet-designated academic Level I/II trauma center in Madison, WI.

Details
  • Assignment is split between two IMC units: D6/5 (Acute Med/Progressive Care) and B4/3 (Thoracic)
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00am–7:30pm), Monday through Friday
  • Every other weekend required
  • Some holiday coverage required
  • Patient population includes telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown cases
  • Ventilated and post-transplant patients are part of the caseload
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Telemetry monitoring performed on the unit
Requirements
  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
  • Experience in an academic Level I or II trauma center or similar-sized hospital required
  • Prior travel RN experience required
  • Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience required
  • Ventilator and post-transplant patient care experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting the assignment — two attempts are allowed
  • Adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms (V-fib, V-tach, asystole), no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions, and an overall passing score of 80% or higher
  • Pediatric telemetry exam requires identification of V-fib, V-tach, asystole, and sinus bradycardia with a passing score of 80% or higher
  • If the second attempt is failed, a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is granted; failure on the third attempt will result in assignment cancellation
  • This is a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital and one of Wisconsin's top-ranked referral centers
  • Preferred skills include arterial line management, PICC line management, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
  • Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation; bus, park & ride, and private parking options are also available
