Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details
  • Stepdown unit in a hospital setting with 12 staffed beds
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating within scope required, consistent with staff nurse expectations; travelers float first
  • Charting via Epic (preferred experience)
Requirements
  • Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
  • Current AHA certifications required: ACLS and BLS
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Required skills include IV therapy, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, blood product administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and non-invasive airway management
  • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted
  • Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; RTO requests submitted after the offer process will not be accepted
  • Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins (approximately 4 hours)
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Scrub color: Royal blue
  • Free parking available on-site
  • Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, peak months August–September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
