Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room/Surgery position in a remote Alaska facility, requiring an active AK RN license and a minimum of 4 years of experience.

Details
  • Hospital-based Operating Room/Surgery department
  • Responsible for pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care across all age groups, from newborns to elderly
  • Variable day and night shifts
  • 13-week contract
Requirements
  • Active Alaska (AK) RN license in good standing required
  • Minimum 4 years of OR nursing experience
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
  • Current BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred
  • National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred
  • Knowledge of AORN standards required
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Delivers patient care through the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation across the surgical continuum
  • Applies age-specific considerations and cultural sensitivity in all patient care interactions
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve quality patient outcomes
  • Orientation is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • A medication calculation math test (adult and pediatric) is required upon arrival before working
  • The following competency documentation must be provided upon arrival: IV/Central Line Site Care, Fall Precautions, Age-Specific Competencies, Abuse/Neglect, Pain Management, Restraints and Seclusion, Blood Transfusions, and current BLS
  • Hospital-provided housing is available in a remote area; shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces (gender-specific units; no dogs allowed)
  • Travelers coordinate housing arrangements directly with the facility
  • The facility will reimburse economy-class flights to and from assignment; detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted through American Traveler for reimbursement
  • Flight itinerary is required at least one week prior to start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival only
