Overview:
Sentara Martha Jefferson is hiring Monitor Technicians in Charlottesville, VA!
Schedules available:
  • PRN/Flexi Nights
  • PRN/Flexi Days
  • Full Time Night Shift

The Monitor Technician observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.
This position will rotate between all areas of the hospital with cardiac monitoring patients with the exception of the LDRP and Emergency Departments.
The Telemetry/Stroke team at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. Each Monitor Technician can expect an average of 20-36 patients per shift.

Education
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required.
  • 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.

Certification/Licensure
  • Successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.

Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Monitor Tech preferred
  • Experience in acute care setting preferred.
  • EKG experience preferred
