What is a travel startup?

A travel startup is a newly established company that focuses on providing innovative products, services, or technologies within the travel and tourism industry. These startups may offer solutions such as online booking platforms, travel planning tools, trip-sharing services, or unique travel experiences. Their goal is often to improve convenience, efficiency, and personalization for travelers while leveraging technology to disrupt traditional travel models.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a travel startup founder?

To thrive as a Travel Startup Founder, you need strong business acumen, entrepreneurial drive, and a deep understanding of the travel industry, often supported by experience in travel or business management. Familiarity with travel booking platforms, CRM systems, data analytics tools, and possibly certifications like IATA or tourism management is valuable. Outstanding networking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills help founders navigate challenges and build strong partnerships. These capabilities are crucial for creating innovative offerings, scaling the business, and maintaining a competitive edge in a dynamic industry.

How does working at a travel startup differ from established travel companies in terms of daily responsibilities and team collaboration?

At a travel startup, employees often wear multiple hats and take on a variety of tasks beyond their primary job description due to smaller team sizes and a rapidly evolving environment. Collaboration tends to be more direct and cross-functional, with frequent communication between marketing, product, and customer support to quickly adapt to market feedback and implement new features. The pace is typically faster, and employees have greater autonomy and the opportunity to see the direct impact of their work. This dynamic environment provides a valuable learning experience and can accelerate personal growth, but it can also present challenges for those who prefer defined roles and processes.

Job description

About Niural
Niural is the AI-native global PEO for the modern workforce. Our mission is to give every growing company enterprise-grade payroll, benefits, and compliance without the enterprise overhead. Built from scratch rather than retrofitted onto legacy systems, Niural combines payroll, PEO/ASO, global EOR, benefits, and vendor payments into one intelligent platform. Powered by EMMA, our AI coworker that executes not just advises. Niural runs payroll and compliance across 150+ countries with near-perfect accuracy. Backed by a $52M Series A and $200M+ in annualized gross revenue on our PEO product alone, we're building the financial infrastructure that companies run their businesses on.
About the Role
We're looking for an organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Events Coordinator to support our growing events program from our SF office.
This role is ideal for someone early in their career who wants to gain hands-on experience across building a world class events program.
You'll play an important role in creating the experiences that bring together customers, founders, investors, and partners. No two days will look exactly the same. One day you may be coordinating travel, and the next you may be helping execute an executive dinner or company event.
If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy wearing multiple hats, and take pride in making things happen, we'd love to meet you.
Responsibilities
Events & Experiences
  • Support the planning and execution of events ranging from: executive dinners, networking events, fireside chats, conferences, and customer experiences
  • Coordinate event logistics, attendee communications, and event materials
  • Assist with venue selection, vendor management, and onsite execution
  • Support event preparation, execution, and post-event follow-up
  • Help create memorable experiences for customers, partners, investors, and prospects
  • Support the growth of Niural's events and community programs
  • On occasion, help create an exceptional employee experience by supporting day-to-day office operations

About You
You'll thrive in this role if:
  • You're highly organized and naturally detail-oriented
  • You enjoy helping others and creating great experiences
  • You're proactive and don't wait to be told what needs to be done
  • You're comfortable juggling multiple priorities simultaneously
  • You communicate clearly and professionally
  • You're resourceful and find solutions rather than focusing on problems
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments where every day is different
  • You're excited to learn and grow within a high-growth startup
Requirements
  • 3-4 years of professional experience in operations, events, hospitality, executive support, recruiting coordination, customer experience, or a related field
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs - this is a very physically demanding position, incumbent will need to be able to move marketing materials and office equipment
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in-person from our SF office five days per week
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Google Workspace
  • Experience supporting company events
  • Experience coordinating executive schedules or travel
  • Startup experience
  • Familiarity with tools such as HubSpot, Luma, Notion, or Navan
What We Offer
At Niural, we're building the future of global workforce management with a relentless focus on innovation and impact. You'll work directly with company leadership while gaining hands-on experience across operations, events, executive support, recruiting, and employee experience.
We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k), and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with founders, investors, operators, and industry leaders through Niural's growing event ecosystem.
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth startup, develop a broad operational skillset, and grow alongside the company.
Compensation
$60,000 - $70,000 per year based on experience.
