Responsibilities

As a Travel Advisor, you'll couple your extraordinary customer service skill and product knowledge in land vacations with The Vacation Groups' best-in-class sales process and platforms to satisfy our clients.  Your expertise, attention to detail, and customer following will all contribute to your initial and ongoing success at The Vacation Group.

  • Provide exceptional customer service resulting in repeat business and referrals.
  • Meet or exceed annual sales revenue target.
  • Increase sales through developing and maintaining a network of clients and learning their needs.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships (new and existing).
  • Provide land supplier, destination, and itinerary recommendations to clients.
  • Consult with clients on various insurance, hotel, and other ancillary options.
  • Address client issues and concerns. Represent the company professionally by offering competent advice and working directly with suppliers to resolve issues. 
  • Respond quickly and proactively to client requests.
  • Follow company procedures in areas of customer service, booking systems, documentation, pricing, insurance, invoicing, etc.
  • Provide input in company strategy and sales direction.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in actions relating to overall sales revenue, including but not limited to perks and amenities.
  • Perform client communications (electronic/phone) with various sales campaigns.
  • Communicate to Sales Managers and Support teams all pending issues, client requests and items that may need attention while out of the office.
  • Participate in other duties and projects as assigned by your agency's management team.
  • Embrace the use of our technology platforms, including Agent Mate, Agent Universe and others.
  • Understand "what works" in the current travel trends become intimately familiar with the destinations, products and services that will appeal to our customers.
  • Be open to a new way of working with prospective clients, including a rigorous protocol for follow up on initial leads as well as quotes and proposals.

The compensation for this position is a base hourly with along with significant commission opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in servicing premium clientele preferred
  • Proven customer service and sales skills, proactive with clients
  • Critical thinking skills to resolve customer issues
  • Ability to recognize when management involvement is necessary

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail-including multitasking
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Travel Industry knowledge including worldwide destinations and premium cruise and tour suppliers
  • Proficient in industry technology
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Specialization a plus (land suppliers sales, destination, travel sector, travel type, special interest, etc.)
  • First-hand experience with past travel abroad to multiple countries is a plus for this position

The salary range on this job posting/advertising has been developed to give applicants a wide range to comply with pay transparency laws in all states and geographical areas.  Many factors, such as years of experience, geographical location, budget etc. are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.  The salary range posted represents the pay range for U.S. candidates.  If the job posting indicates that the role is available for international candidate consideration, the salary range will be based on the local market for the country where the candidate would be working.
