Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough trauma-informed mental health assessments to evaluate patients' trauma history, identifying appropriate treatment approaches tailored to individual needs.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans aimed at trauma recovery, utilizing evidence-based methodologies including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Lead individual and group therapy sessions, facilitating discussions that help patients process their trauma, learn coping mechanisms, and foster resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients experiencing trauma-related emergencies, ensuring immediate and effective support.
  • Educate patients and their families about trauma responses, coping strategies, and resources available for support and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in compliance with legal and ethical regulations, ensuring proper record-keeping for all patient interactions.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and continuing education opportunities centered around trauma-informed care practices.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and advancements in trauma therapy, integrating new findings into practice for improved patient outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will work primarily with trauma survivors, including those diagnosed with PTSD, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Your work will have a direct impact on individuals who have experienced traumatic events, helping them navigate their recovery and regain control of their lives. By employing trauma-informed therapeutic techniques, you will play a crucial role in promoting healing and resilience among our patients.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Virginia.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-related mental health disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating a compassionate, non-judgmental approach to patient care.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and computer applications for clinical documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, showing flexibility and collaboration in ensuring the best patient outcomes.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling.
