Position Overview

Senior Sales Manager – Transit Fare Collection Solutions

Location: Vienna, VAPosition Type: Full-Time

STraffic America is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Sales Manager to lead business development efforts for our farebox and fare collection solutions within the U.S. public transit market. This is a unique opportunity for a sales professional with deep industry expertise to drive growth, build strategic relationships, and help transit agencies implement innovative revenue collection technologies.

We are specifically looking for candidates with extensive experience in the farebox, automated fare collection (AFC), and transit revenue systems industry. Direct experience working with or selling against providers such as Genf are, Cubic, INIT, Conduent, Trapeze, or similar organizations is highly preferred.

Position Summary

The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships, and leading the full sales cycle for fare collection solutions across public transit agencies throughout the United States. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to transit agencies while collaborating internally to deliver compliant, customer-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales and business development efforts for farebox and fare collection solutions within the U.S. transit market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public transit agencies, authorities, municipalities, and transit operators.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through strategic prospecting and market engagement.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, including opportunity identification, proposal preparation, pricing, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Respond to RFP, RFQ, and IFB opportunities in partnership with internal teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and business partners to develop compliant and competitive solutions.
  • Provide market intelligence, industry trends, and competitive insights to company leadership.
  • Represent Straffic America at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline management.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of sales experience within the farebox, fare collection, automated fare collection (AFC), or transit revenue systems market.
  • Demonstrated success selling technology solutions to U.S. public transit agencies.
  • Strong understanding of farebox hardware, AFC systems, and public transit procurement processes.
  • Proven experience responding to and managing RFP, RFQ, and IFB opportunities.
  • Ability to independently manage complex, long-cycle government and public sector sales processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout the United States as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with organizations such as Genf are, Cubic, INIT, Conduent, Trapeze, or other transit fare collection providers.
  • Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements, Buy America provisions, and DBE considerations.
  • Experience with integrated fare collection ecosystems, including fareboxes, validators, mobile ticketing, and back-office platforms.
  • Established network of contacts within the U.S. public transit industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in the transit technology sector.
