Job description

Job Title: Sand Trap Bar & Grill Manager

Department: Administration

Reports To: Assistant Township Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Safety Sensitive: Yes

Classification: Full Time; Non-Exempt

Driving Status: Yes

Work Environment: Work is performed in both back of house and front of house areas
of the Sand Trap Restaurant.


Summary: Supervise the daily activity of the Sand Trap Bar & Grill and food/beverage cart dedicated to the Overlook Golf Course. Supervise part-time, and seasonal staff at the Sand Trap in the performance of work duties and responsibilities; schedule and plan for catered outings; supervise the preparation of food for daily menu and catered events.

Essential Functions:
1) Manage all aspects of the Sand Trap Bar & Grill, outings and events and on course food and beverage sales including its activities and relationships between the facility, its patrons, employees, the community and the Township.
2) Coordinate and administer recommendations to Spirit Golf's Regional Manager who will work with all levels of leadership associated with the Overlook Golf Course and Sand Trap Bar & Grill. Work in tandem with Spirit Golf Leadership in meeting the Food & Beverage Goals of the Professional Golf Service Consulting Agreement, which includes, but is not limited to:
a.) Ensuring the highest standards for food and beverage services and programs, entertainment and other golf club related services.
b.) Establishing specific goals associated with the Sand Trap Restaurant.
c.) Monitor the performance of the daily operation of Sand Trap, its functions and services to ensure high standards are met and that we have total customer satisfaction.
d.) Establish pricing, discounting, utilization, menu planning, cost of goods, sanitation, waste, RAMP training, ServSafe protocols, PIOS updates, scheduling and SOPs for the operation.
e.) Maintain cash controls to safeguard funds and assets related to the Sand Trap.
f.) Manage all club social activities related to golf outings F&B program.
g.) Manage staff of cooks, bartenders and servers.
h.) Required to work a minimum of 3-4 bar/counter shifts per week.

Other Functions:
1) Assist with general duties for other staff in the event of their absence, i.e., receive calls,
schedule events.
2) Ensure proper set-ups for Overlook golf catering events.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
2. Ability to use hands to handle, fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop and kneel.
3. Ability to bend or twist their body.
4. Ability to perform strenuous and routine work; may involve significant pushing, pulling and carrying.
5. Ability to lift, move, push, pull and carry up to 40 pounds.
6. Ability to balance, climb, craw, crouch, grasp, and perform repetitive motion occasionally.
7. Ability to talk, hear and see (visual acuity – near; with clarify at 20 inches or less. Far; with clarity at 20 feet or more).
8. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
9. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push, reach items below and overhead, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
10. Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Required Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Previous experience in food service or food management involving the planning and preparation of food in individual and large quantities
3. Minimum 3 years' experience in a kitchen environment
4. Minimum 2 years' management experience
5. Minimum 1 year experience using a POS system

Preferred Education and Experience:
1. ServSafe Certification (Must obtain within 90 days of employment)
2. RAMP Certification (Must obtain within 30 days of employment)
3. Bachelor's in culinary or related field preferred

Additional Eligibility Requirements:
Must possess valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:
1. Work demands a fluctuating schedule according to seasonal events and involves evening and weekend hours. Work can involve contact with angry, upset, or frustrated individuals.
