Our drivers enjoy a great balance between work and life, as well as competitive compensation. As a professional truck driver with Smithfield Foods, you are assigned late model Freightliner tractors to pull 53' reefer trailers and are dispatched to our plants, company distribution centers, and customer distribution centers. Safe driving, customer service, and effective decision making is the key to success in this position.

Earning potential up to $80,000+ annually plus PTO!
  • Schedule: Minimum 5 days/week (Consistent scheduling on Day or Night shifts) option to voluntarily work 6th day if HOS eligible
  • Home daily schedule
  • Mileage: 1,800-2,000 miles per week
  • Loads: 10+ weekly, No touch freight-mixture of drop/hook and live load/unload
  • Hours: Shift up to 12hrs/day
  • Slip-seating: Required/Day Cabs
  • Shifts: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday
  • Detention Pay: $25hr after 2 hours
  • Route: All routes operate within a 300-mile radius of Greenfield, IN

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified. May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs daily.
  • Transport loads according to dispatch instructions, ensuring proper load security and biosecurity compliance.
  • Maintain accurate Hours of Service (HOS) logs via ELD or paper logs when required.
  • Report all accidents, citations, and equipment defects promptly.
  • Participate in scheduled driver safety meetings and required training programs.
  • Keep assigned truck clean and report maintenance needs.
  • Perform additional duties under weekly guarantee, including trailer washouts, fueling, spotting, weighing, and reporting maintenance issues.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
