About the role


Under the supervision of the Planning Manager and with a functional relationship with the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating final mile delivery operations in the market to achieve company Safety, Quality, and Cost standards. This position primarily collaborates with the market’s Outbound Lead(s), Driver Partners, and Delivery Service Providers, with significant functional collaboration with other members of the Transportation Department and the Engineering Department (routing optimization).


Primary Responsibilities
Safety

-Follow company safety protocols: wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), follow Operations/Outbound Supervisor’s safety instructions, and report unsafe working conditions or actions to management.


Outbound

-Ensure packages are sent out for delivery each operating day according to company schedule requirements.Ensure routes are released to the driver pool according to routing guidelines. Assist in confirming driver assignments and ETAs at least 12 hours before route pickup.


Transportation

-Manage relationships with the market driver pool. Assist in new driver recruitment and onboarding to maximize driver engagement and retention.

-Assist in selecting, evaluating, and managing relationships with delivery service provider (DSP) vendors.

-Use client forecasts, launch schedules, etc., to determine driver coverage requirements and ensure market driver availability is efficiently matched with market driver demand to achieve OTD and final mile cost metrics.

-Coach and mentor driver partners and delivery service providers to enable achievement of on-time delivery, final mile cost, and customer satisfaction metrics.

-Assist in development and implementation of market routing parameters, volume allocation guidelines, etc.

-Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

-High school diploma or equivalent.

-At least three years’ related experience in the local market required (last-mile delivery, dispatching, transportation, etc.).

-Excellent knowledge of local market geography, transportation arteries, traffic patterns, etc.

-Strong supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to develop relationships with and influence independent contractors outside of a direct reporting relationship.

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse audiences.

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

-Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a time-sensitive work environment.

-Proficient with Google Drive, Slack, and related operations software.

-OSHA Forklift Operator certification is a plus.


Physical Requirements:

-Stand, walk, sit at a desk, work on a computer, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

-Move or lift up to 60 pounds on a daily basis.
Hours:

This role requires willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as required by operational needs. Typical start times are 5am-7am, five consecutive workdays with two days off. (For example: Sun-Thurs OR Sat-Wed) Weekend or holiday shifts may be required based on operational needs and client volume.
