Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Prime Medical Transport is seeking dependable, compassionate Transportation Specialists to provide

safe, respectful non-emergency transportation throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.

The role primarily serves Plymouth County, with regular trips into Greater Boston and occasional travel

throughout Cape Cod. Transportation Specialists assist ambulatory passengers and individuals traveling by wheelchair, non-emergency stretcher, or specialized stretcher-alternative equipment.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Start safely and serve locally. Begin with a vehicle and equipment safety inspection, then use the

company's mobile app to pick up a passenger at home and transport them to an appointment in

Plymouth. Most trips include door-through-door assistance from inside the pickup location to safely

inside the destination, along with passenger securement and trip updates through the app.

Work as a team. Your next assignment might be a non-emergency stretcher trip from Braintree to

Boston. As part of a trained two-person team, you will transfer and secure the passenger, communicate with caregivers, remain with the passenger throughout the scheduled trip, and complete a safe return or handoff. Finish ready. Stay connected with dispatch throughout the day, then refuel, clean and disinfect the vehicle and equipment, remove trash, report concerns, and leave everything ready for the next shift.

WHO THIS POSITION IS WELL SUITED FOR

This can be an excellent opportunity for current, former, or retired EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, police officers, healthcare professionals, military personnel, and other public-service professionals.

Previous public-safety or medical experience is valuable but not required. We also welcome applicants

from other backgrounds who are physically capable, dependable, calm under pressure, and genuinely

enjoy helping people.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

โ€“ Safely operate company vehicles and transport passengers throughout Plymouth County, Greater

Boston, Cape Cod, and surrounding areas.

โ€“ Inspect the assigned vehicle and equipment before service and use the mobile app to receive

assignments, navigate, document trip status, and communicate with dispatch.

โ€“ Provide door-through-door assistance and safely load, secure, transport, and unload ambulatory,

wheelchair, stretcher, and specialized-equipment passengers.

โ€“ Work effectively with a transportation partner on stretcher and higher-assistance services,

remaining with passengers when required.

โ€“ Treat passengers with empathy and protect their dignity, comfort, privacy, and safety.

โ€“ Communicate professionally with passengers, families, facility staff, dispatchers, and coworkers.

โ€“ Follow schedules, complete required documentation, and comply with company safety procedures

and applicable transportation requirements.

โ€“ Refuel, clean, disinfect, and organize the vehicle and equipment after the shift; promptly report

damage, maintenance concerns, or supply needs.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

โ€“ Empathy, patience, and respect for every passenger

โ€“ Dependability, punctuality, and a strong commitment to safety

โ€“ Professional, calm, and courteous communication

โ€“ Comfort driving in Plymouth County, Boston, Cape Cod, and surrounding communities

โ€“ Ability to work as part of a two-person team and adapt to changing schedules

โ€“ Sound judgment and willingness to learn and follow company procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Transportation Specialists must be able to:

โ€“ Safely assist passengers with varying mobility needs

โ€“ Push, pull, maneuver, and secure wheelchairs, stretchers, and specialized equipment

โ€“ Bend, reach, stand, walk, repeatedly enter and exit vehicles, and perform physically demanding

tasks safely as part of a trained team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

โ€“ Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

โ€“ Ability to pass required background checks and drug screening and meet company vehicle- insurance

requirements

โ€“ Professional appearance and customer-service mindset

โ€“ Reliable transportation to the assigned reporting location

โ€“ Willingness to complete all required company training and certifications

TRAINING

Previous transportation or medical experience is not required. Prime Medical Transport provides

training in:

โ€“ Door-through-door passenger assistance and mobility awareness

โ€“ Wheelchair, stretcher, and specialized-equipment securement

โ€“ Safe lifting, movement, and team-assistance techniques

โ€“ Defensive driving

โ€“ Passenger communication and customer service

โ€“ Vehicle cleaning, infection-control, and emergency procedures

โ€“ Company documentation, mobile-app, and dispatch processes

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

This is primarily a full-time position, with part-time opportunities available. Schedules may include early mornings, daytime hours, evenings, and occasional weekends. Flexibility can be built into schedules for the right individuals while meeting passenger and client needs. Very competitive compensation is available for the right candidates. Specific compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, availability, and the responsibilities of the schedule.

WHY JOIN PRIME MEDICAL TRANSPORT?

This is more than a driving position. Transportation Specialists help people access care, return home

safely, and maintain their independence while treating every passenger with patience, empathy, and

dignity.
