The Transportation Planning Supervisor manages the regional inbound and outbound planning of logistics requirements in support of efficient and effective Transportation load optimization and distribution within the supply chain.  Supervises and manages the activities of 6 or more District Transportation Planners within a region.  Responsible for the successful of execution of the transportation order conversion process, freight tendering, (freight) mode selection, load optimization, and dispatch planning for multiple District Transportation Planners.  Identifies and develops recommendations for process improvements, SAPTM enhancements that increase the effectiveness of the freight order conversion process, and training of best practices for assigned District Transportation Planners.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


Freight Order Conversion Process


• Supervises the planning of transportation movements in the district branches including but not limited to (shuttles, IBTs, outbound orders, bulk/mini-bulk, inbound fleet movements, etc.…)
• Monitors and directs the coverage of all open Freight Orders to ensure optimization is conducted and capacity is covered daily
• Manages and optimizes DTP workflow within the region to ensure all districts are adequately staffed and covered for transportation planning activities
• Executes the role of DTP in coverage situations
• Addresses and recommends alternatives for all inbound and 3rd party logistic expediting requirements for Purchasing and Sales.
• Direct the movement of inbound, outbound, third party, CIBT & IBT products to meet customer requirements
• Schedule inbound & outbound package and bulk carriers
• Orders and Approves SPOT (Short Order Leadtime) Transportation capacity
• Work with local branches daily for capacity planning and special requirements
 

Freight Lane Audit and Compliance


• Approve freight exceptions on freight bills and purchase orders
 

Quality & Improvement


• Makes recommendations for transportation equipment and assists in selection process
• Assists in responding to all District Transportation quality and customer service requirements and determines appropriate actions to include in-transit visibility
• Interprets company policy and ensure consistent application.
• Provides input to management regarding transportation operating efficiency leveraging the TMS, in coordination with district and branch management, to improve cost or service

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • 3 to 5 years transportation experience with Univar Solutions or equivalent business experience
  • High School Diploma required
  • College degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Purchasing or Logistics processes and functions
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong technical skills
  • In depth SAPTM system knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated team performer
  • High level of decision-making ability
  • Maintain customer specific data in TMS
