Job description

Job Summary
The Analyst, Transportation Planning is responsible for planning, optimizing, and executing inbound and outbound transportation activities. This role partners with NAPA suppliers, carriers, distribution centers, and internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, on-time movement of freight while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the transportation network.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize TMS to plan, optimize, tender, and monitor daily freight movements
  • Build and optimize truckloads to maximize trailer utilization while minimizing transportation costs
  • Monitor transportation exceptions and proactively resolve shipment delays and service issues
  • Analyze transportation data to identify cost savings, improve service levels, and increase network efficiency
  • Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, distribution centers, and procurement teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Manage carrier performance, capacity constraints, and shipment visibility
  • Support transportation metrics, including on-time pickup/delivery, cost per shipment, cube utilization, and service performance
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate freight and reduce less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments
  • Assist with TMS configuration, testing, process improvements, and system enhancements
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transportation planning processes
  • Participate in transportation projects, network optimization initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, supply chain, logistics, or another technical field
  • Transportation planning or logistics experience with hands on experience with a TMS
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning, carrier management, routing, load optimization, and freight consolidation
  • Experience with truckload, LTL, parcel, and intermodal transportation preferred
  • Exposure to SQL and data visualization software (i.e. Microsoft PowerBI)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with proven ability utilizing Excel
  • Ability to learn and utilize various types of software and information systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to resolve situations quickly, communicate status of problems, and work with the appropriate subject matter experts to achieve required outcomes

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting retail, distribution, or automotive aftermarket logistics
  • Experience with complex organizational supply chains and systems
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems, preferably Manhattan Associates or Uber Freight
  • Experience with data analytics

Physical Demands / Working Environment
  • Work performed in a typical office environment
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 15%
