Job Description
As Transportation Lead you will be responsible for managing all aspects of our transportation channels. Develop and maintain relationships with Freight and Small Parcel vendors. Track and report on transportation performance and cost. Initiate process and savings improvements projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and drive the freight forecast with Supply Planning and Sales teams.
  • Work closely with freight vendors to manage transportation plans to ensure internal and external stakeholder needs are achieved and are cost effective based on budget.
  • Participate in budgeting sessions with finance and track costs.
  • Drive Cross Functional Process Improvement, by understanding and anticipating interdependencies.
  • Work with Planning, Procurement and 3PL's to drive freight process excellence.
  • Manage set-up of new lanes and modes of transportation for new customers.
  • Monitor co-manufacturer shipment performance and adherence to shipping SOPs. Works with key internal stakeholders to drive resolution of shipping issues.
  • Prepare trend analysis on logistics data and make recommendations about opportunities for performance and cost saving improvements.
  • Create weekly and monthly metrics.
  • Investigate AOP vs Actual discrepancies at month end.
  • Drive cost savings processes to meet budget.
  • Schedule and monitor Inbound/Outbound freight from Co-Manufacturers to Customer Facing Warehouses.
  • Ensure all deliveries are made according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Lead claims process with carrier partners and customers for any Accounts Receivable and Customer Accessorial Charges.
  • Manage 3PL freight broker performance and cost.
  • Monitor critical trend reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) On-time delivery, Freight Mode Compliance, Freight Load Optimization.
  • Lead weekly meetings with freight vendor to review metrics as well as priorities and challenges for the week.
  • Vendor QBR's. Assist in agenda and deck creation as well as presenting to freight vendors.
  • Manage vendor performance with warehouse (escalation point).
  • Partner with freight vendor to identify areas of improvement.
  • Manage small parcel partnerships with vendors.
  • Track and analyze small parcel costs.
  • Drive process improvements and innovations to reduce small parcel cost.
  • Evaluate service failures and drive compliance initiatives.
  • Review freight and small parcel billing for accuracy and trends.
  • Lead strategic transportation initiatives for cost savings and on-time delivery.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years relevant experience with progressively responsible roles
  • 5+ years experience managing complex supply chain operations
  • Supply Chain Management or related degree and/or certification preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and changing priorities; to rapidly learn new systems and procedures; to analyze logistics patterns and develop solutions to improve performance and reduce cost; to make fact-driven, data-driven decisions under pressure; to effectively plan, organize and prioritize workload; and to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness and experience to lead change through effective communication and persuasion skills
  • A talent for building collaborative relationships, both internally and externally
  • Experience with selection and operation of MRP, purchasing and distribution systems and software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • The self-motivation to work in a highly distributed, remote work environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Additional Information
Annual base salary gross: $70,000 - $80,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
