Job description

Business applications engineer - Oracle Transport Management (OTM)

Redwood Materials is looking for an application administrator to own Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), our transportation platform connecting supplier and customer integrations across inbound material and outbound product. The primary responsibility is partnering with operational stakeholders across logistics, warehouse, and material flow, plus Finance and Business Development, to ensure IT maintains an effective OTM environment that meets the needs of the business. Areas of influence include configuration and administration, automation and integrations, carrier onboarding, rate maintenance, freight settlement, and regression testing each quarterly cloud update. The role also owns the integration between OTM and Redwood's new in-house WMS, keeping shipping and receiving in sync, as well as the new ERP, which is built atop Microsoft Dynamics 365. This role will gain familiarity with the in-house WMS as an informed partner to the development team and coordinate with the outsourced provider supporting the legacy Oracle WMS through its remaining life.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Own Oracle Transportation Management as internal owner and point of accountability - configuration and administration across order and shipment management, planning and optimization, rating and tariffs, freight settlement and audit-pay, and supporting modules (Transportation Operational Planning, Fleet Management, Global Trade Management).
  • Build and maintain OTM automation and integrations, primarily between OTM and the WMS, and between OTM and the ERP.
  • Manage carrier onboarding, rate maintenance, and freight-cost accuracy, and troubleshoot exceptions across inbound and outbound transportation.
  • Learn the in-house WMS and partner with the development team on it; coordinate with the outsourced provider supporting the legacy Oracle WMS.
  • Partner with warehouse operations and material flow, Finance, and Business Development to translate needs into configuration and support planning and reporting.
  • Manage quarterly OTM cloud updates including regression testing of agents and integrations, maintain documentation and runbooks, and provide user support and training.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Supply Chain/Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years configuring and supporting Oracle Transportation Management, including agents and automation and a working command of the OTM data model; comfort with SQL and XML/XSL as used in OTM.
  • Experience integrating a transportation system with ERP, WMS, and carrier or visibility partners via the OTM Integration Framework, REST/SOAP web services, and/or Oracle Integration Cloud.
  • Solid understanding of transportation and logistics operations for a business that both receives inbound material and ships outbound product - rating, carrier management, freight settlement, and planning.
  • Willingness to learn a custom in-house WMS and partner effectively with a software development team.
  • Ability to translate operational, financial, and business needs into system solutions, communicating clearly with non-technical partners and holding an outsourced vendor accountable.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, managing steady-state operations alongside project spikes such as cloud updates, carrier onboarding, and new lane setup.
  • Availability for occasional off-hours support around updates, integration changes, and time-sensitive transportation issues, and willingness to be on site as needed.
