JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Escort Driver Department: GMT

Salary Range: Starting at $17.00 Reports to: GMT Manager

Employment Status: Seasonal FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY

 As an Escort Driver, the incumbent will be responsible for escorting oversized vehicles or loads, ensuring their safe passage on highways and roads. The incumbent will work closely with truck drivers and transportation staff to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety protocols, as well as, maintaining company property, equipment and inspections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  • Escort oversized vehicles or loads, such as wide loads, long loads, or loads with special permits, ensuring their safe passage on highways and roads.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and staff to coordinate escort services and ensure compliance with route plans and schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of escort vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and safety protocols, including displaying appropriate signage and warning devices, maintaining safe distances from oversized loads, and adhering to speed limits.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust escort speed or route as necessary to ensure the safety of the oversized load and other motorists.
  • General housekeeping of workspace.
  • Blocking and storing vessels in boatyard.
  • Complete required paperwork , logs, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including trip reports, mileage records and expense reports.
  • Must maintain upkeep on vehicle including checking fluids and washing.
  • Assist mechanics with tasks when needed.
  • Possess the ability to react productively to other duties as reasonably assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Driver's license and provide a motor vehicle report. Must be 21 years or older. Must obtain a certified escort card within a given time period. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required. Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including sitting for extended periods, climbing in and out of vehicles and lifting. Reliable transportation.

EDUCATION

Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

No prior experience necessary, only the ability to learn and have a valid Driver's license.

  • Knowledge or ability to be trained in blood borne pathogen awareness.

YES. The incumbent must possess knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar for general communication purposes with coworkers, supervisory and management staff, customers, vendors, and other visitors. Strong communication skills are required to maintain the utmost safety and efficient completion of industrial tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The incumbent must be able to work around water. Employees are expected to promote a safe working environment for themselves, coworkers, and our guests.

Position/duties may require lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance if reasonably needed, while reaching or handling materials, supplies, tools, equipment and/or debris.

Conduct assignment of shift work during periods up to sixteen (16) hours. Must be able and willing to work a flexible and potentially rotating schedule, including weekends, holidays and during a twenty-four hour period. The position is also subject to "on call" status outside of regularly scheduled shifts to address maintenance tasks which require immediate attention.

The position will involve working outdoors in adverse or inclement weather conditions including but limited to extreme heat.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Antelope Point Marina policy regarding employee performance evaluation. The employee understands that a 90 day performance evaluation will be conducted to discuss job responsibilities and performance requirements. Should the employee not meet the performance standards of the position, APM management reserves the right to terminate the employment relationship or relocate the employee to another position within the company, if available.
