Construction Inspection Team Lead

A growing engineering and infrastructure consulting organization is seeking an experienced Construction Inspection Team Lead to support transportation and infrastructure projects within two southern Indiana transportation districts.

The selected professional will oversee inspection teams responsible for roadway and bridge construction oversight, ensuring projects meet agency specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

The role requires strong field inspection experience on state and local transportation projects, along with demonstrated leadership capabilities managing inspection personnel and coordinating with agency representatives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate inspection activities for transportation infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, utilities, and traffic-related construction.
  • Provide field inspection and testing services for construction and rehabilitation projects.
  • Support business development and relationship management within regional transportation agencies and local public agencies.
  • Interpret construction plans, specifications, supplemental documentation, and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare daily field inspection reports including written documentation and photo records.
  • Perform earthwork quantity calculations including cut and fill analysis.
  • Verify contractor work and materials comply with project specifications and approved plans.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on construction activities and installation methods.
  • Coordinate with project teams regarding contract modifications and field change documentation.
  • Utilize digital construction management systems used by transportation agencies when applicable.
  • Mentor and guide junior inspection staff to support professional development and project delivery.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • 5+ years of infrastructure construction inspection experience, preferably on transportation projects
  • Experience supporting state or local transportation agency construction programs
  • Strong understanding of roadway, bridge, and civil construction inspection procedures

Preferred Certifications

Candidates with technician certifications related to the following areas are strongly preferred:
