Utilities Engineer - Transportation
Department: Transportation

Description

As a Utilities Engineer - Transportation you will be responsible for a variety of projects, taking ownership from start to finish.
What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Work with a project team consisting of engineers, designers, third-party/utility coordinators and field personnel involved in the design, relocation, coordination, modification, analysis, and constructability of new and existing utility systems as part of large-scale transportation projects
  • Work on challenging assignments that include investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of engineering and construction-related issues
  • Coordinate utility relocation/coordination efforts on behalf of Federal, State, and Local agencies or utility infrastructure owners
  • Follow Federal, State and Local codes, administrative rules, ordinances, regulations and requirements
  • Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements
  • Work with a team for the execution of detailed design phases for all aspects of utility engineering and coordination work
  • Assist with preparation, review, and/or approval of proposals, contracts, and cost estimates
  • Assist with negotiation of revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with sub-consultants, and clients
  • Work with a team to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements
  • Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation
  • Leadership opportunities depending on experience

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Degree
  • Professional Engineering License
  • 5+ years of total experience
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation engineering, design or construction fields
  • Ability to effectively contribute to engineering, design or construction projects
  • Proficiency in MicroStation (ORD)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
