POSITION SUMMARY:

This field position assists the Operations Manager, Transportation Assistant or Dispatcher with daily transportation functions including resourcing and monitoring, completion of paperwork, and addressing passenger relations issues within the framework of the company’s Operations Excellence Program.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accompany the school bus driver on the regularly scheduled route as approved and assigned by the school district
  • Assist the driver in managing student behavior to ensure student safety
  • Assist the driver with the loading and unloading of physically disabled or non-ambulatory students as needed
  • Assist the driver with securing special seats, restraining devices or medical aids required by students
  • Assist the driver with student emergencies and bus evacuation as necessary
  • Maintain confidentiality of student personal and medical information
  • Other work-related duties as assigned

  • None
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must successfully complete any company, state, federal required training and recertification
  • Ability to effectively manage student behavior in a non-confrontational manner
  • Ability to manage vehicle and student emergencies in calm, appropriate manner
  • Successful completion of all background checks required by company or school district upon hire and ongoing requirements


EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting for 4-6 hours per day
  • Hearing adequate for general traffic conditions, traffic signals, emergency vehicles and monitoring and using vehicle communication equipment
  • Range of motion adequate for assisting students with boarding and exiting vehicle and for securing students for transport
  • Ability to climb steps of bus and sufficient mobility to access vehicle emergency exits
  • Ability to push & pull with up to 40 lbs. of force
