Role Purpose Statement

The Transportation/Ramp Operations Manager will provide leadership across operational areas, supporting day-to-day execution, problem resolution, and overall performance.


This role requires a strong, well-rounded operator who can adapt to business needs, lead teams effectively, and drive results in a fast-paced environment. We are a 24/7 facility and schedule flexibility is a MUST!


The ideal candidate is a proactive leader capable of stepping into various operational functions and delivering immediate impact.

Main Accountabilities

โ€ข Strategically plan, organize, and manage a department with regards to daily hours, schedules, productivity, quality and safety.
โ€ข Responsible for department costs to budget through effective manpower planning, scheduling and overtime usage
โ€ข Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), safety, health, environmental and other regulations
โ€ข Ensure on-time and accurate production in the preparation of food/equipment and catering of flights
โ€ข Investigate customer quality issues, develop and implement corrective actions
โ€ข Maintain an ongoing, positive and pro-active relationship with all internal and external customers
โ€ข Attend the daily operations briefing
โ€ข Ensure par levels of customer inventory and customer specific goods
โ€ข Provide data for the development of an annual business plan and budgeting for the department
โ€ข Ensure optimal deployment of human, technical and material resources in the department
โ€ข Initiate and control continuous optimization of processes
โ€ข Leadership
โ€ข Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed and directed
โ€ข Guide, motivate and develop the subordinate employees within the Human Resources Policy
โ€ข Participates in coaching the expanded Global Performance System (GPS) process, as well as additional career development activities to enhance the effectiveness and potential of the team
โ€ข Make the company's values and management principles live in the department(s)
โ€ข Plan / Implement and control the cost budget in the area of responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent experience required
โ€ข Five to seven years of directly related experience required in a management role
โ€ข Experience in using and managing Variable Production Systems and schedules
โ€ข Strong presentation, communication, training and interpersonal skills
โ€ข Knowledge of lean manufacturing
โ€ข Proven success in improving work processes and leading change in a complex, fast environment
โ€ข Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve budget
โ€ข Strong knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), FDA, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations
โ€ข Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and HACCP guideline
โ€ข Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
โ€ข Demonstrable record of understanding and meeting customer expectations
โ€ข Proven track record of understanding the drivers of product and labor cost variances
โ€ข Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
โ€ข Must have Valid DL
โ€ข Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.
โ€ข Must have understanding of food safety, regulatory compliance, and GMP
โ€ข Previous supervisory experience required
