Job description

Overview

CORT Furniture Rental is hiring a full-time Assistant Operations Manager (AOM) in Carrollton, TX. The AOM plays a critical leadership role in daily warehouse and transportation operations, ensuring efficient scheduling, routing, and execution of deliveries while upholding safety and compliance standards. This position supports the Operations Manager and may act in their absence, overseeing warehouse teams, managing driver performance, and maintaining operational KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency. The AOM also handles customer interactions, resolves delivery issues, and supports administrative functions such as reporting, budgeting, and employee training. This is a hands-on role that requires physical activity, including lifting, loading, and warehouse floor supervision.

This is an onsite position performed from a CORT distribution center. And Preference will be given to candidates with verifiable box truck driving experience. 

Salary: $56,000 - 60,000 / year depending on experience. 

Schedule: Monday-Friday; Some Saturdays may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Routing, Scheduling & Dispatching: Schedules deliveries and labor hours, maintains availability, and routes trucks efficiently. Provides real-time support to service centers, delivery team, and customers. May conduct delivery pre-calls to customers. Follows up on any issues with deliveries or pickups.  Ensures compliance with routing software and delivery KPIs.
  • Fleet Maintenance and Truck Work: Ensures that pre-trip truck inspections are completed and vehicles are in proper working order. Coordinates vehicle maintenance and repairs and maintains equipment and driver supplies. Supports compliance with DOT regulations and internal standards.
  • Managing Delivery Team: Supervises daily operations of the delivery team, including routing, compliance, and performance. Provides real-time support, ensures adherence to safety and service standards, and fosters accountability through coaching, training, and performance monitoring. Assists with deliveries or conduct delivery inspections as needed. May be required to drive a truck.
  • Managing Warehouse Team: Oversees daily activities of warehouse personnel, ensuring efficient workflows, adherence to safety standards, and accurate inventory handling. Provides training, assigns tasks, monitors performance, and supports team development to meet operational goals. Assists with
    loading/unloading, cycle counting, repair, and other hands-on warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance: Leads safety initiatives, daily safety briefings, warm-up/stretch sessions and ensures adherence to company protocols and local regulations. Oversees DOT and TMS compliance, including documentation. Tracks and enforces operational KPIs.
  • Interviewing, Onboarding, and Training: Participates in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of warehouse and delivery personnel. Provides ongoing coaching and performance feedback to support employee development and operational excellence.
  • Administrative Reporting and Metrics Management: Maintains and analyzes operational reports and KPIs including cycle counts, delivery performance, labor utilization, and warehouse productivity. Uses tools and internal dashboards to track trends and support decision-making.
  • Customer Service & Issue Resolution: Serves as a point of contact for escalated customer issues related to deliveries, pickups, or product condition. Coordinates with internal teams to resolve problems promptly and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Inventory & Asset Management: Monitors inventory levels, ensures accuracy of warehouse stock, and oversees the movement of goods through various stages (download, cleaning, repair, staging). Supports cycle count accuracy and Days in Location compliance.
  • Vendor & Supply Coordination: Sources and manages warehouse supplies, tools, and safety gear. May coordinate with third-party vendors for temporary labor, transportation, or equipment servicing.
  • Project & Process Improvement: Leads or supports special projects such as warehouse layout optimization, inbound/outbound freight planning, and implementation of new processes or systems. Identifies opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2+ years of warehouse or fleet experience required; 3-5 years of warehouse and/or fleet supervisory experience preferred
  • Physically able and willing to move furniture indoors, outdoors, up or down stairs and in all weather conditions; ability to lift 100+ pounds with a partner
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Valid and current driver’s license in the state of residency
  • Ability to comply with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration regulations
  • Ability to maintain a valid DOT Medical Evaluator Certificate, which includes passing a physical and drug screening
  • Ability to successfully pass a road test based on FMCSA/CORT requirements
  • Acceptable MVR per CORT’s Safe Driving Standards
  • Ability to successfully pass a road test based on FMCSA/CORT requirements
  • Minimum 3 months professional experience driving a 24-foot box truck or larger commercial vehicle
  • Acceptable MVR per CORT’s Safe Driving Standards
