Job description

Imaging Transport Associate

The Imaging Transport Associate will transport patients to and from dedicated locations within the hospital and help maintain a cohesive workflow in the department. Under general supervision and/or detailed instruction, assists the technologists in preparing patients and examination rooms for diagnostic imaging procedures, and is involved in continual patient contact, performing basic patient care duties. The Imaging Transport Associate demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that their attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities
  • Escorts patients to and from waiting rooms to respective departments.
  • Provides appropriate gowning instructions.
  • Answers basic questions about exam.
  • Transports patients between Imaging and Diagnostic Services Department and other departments and nursing units.
  • Provides excellent customer service by constant communications to patients about their time in the department, i.e. how long they have to wait, whether the exam is completed, their comfort level, etc.
  • Reserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information.
  • Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.
  • Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect.
  • Uses proper technique in handling and transporting IVACs, IV poles, oxygen, catheters and other patient equipment.
  • Answers phones, transfers calls and relays messages as necessary.
  • Cleans and prepares exam rooms between procedures and maintains supplies for rooms.
  • Maintains cleans linen and gown supply; responsible for disposal of soiled linen in all rooms.
  • Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties(EPIC, RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BCLS

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities and maintains effective working relationships within the organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of all hospital campuses.
  • Superb interpersonal skills in relationship with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.

  • Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
