The primary purpose of this position is to serve as focal point for assigned transportation programs and special projects. Develops, plans, evaluates, and advises on traffic management policies and programs. Independently carries out technical advisory assignments and program evaluation regarding entitlements on the shipment of personal property/passenger travel, both domestic and overseas. Analyzes and evaluates effectiveness of shipment and transportation programs such as Defense Personal Property Program and Transportation Operational Personal Property Program. Analyzes and interprets regulations, directives, and procedures from higher authority and ensures management is briefed on recommended procedures. Perform administrative transportation services in support of transportation programs and projects and to manage assigned portions of the transportation deployment program and to provide services in support of the movement of personal property.
Duty 1: Knowledge of established transportation or traffic management rules to perform a full range of transportation support duties.
Duty 2: Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the organization, ensuring that logistics workforce management related operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
Duty 3: Participates in special logistics workforce related operation projects and initiatives and performs special assignments.
Duty 4: Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Requirements:
Obtain & maintain a security clearance
May be required to travel to perform temporary duty
May have extended/other than normal duty hours
The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
May require working various shifts, overtime, compensatory time during peak workload periods.
Position demands occasional work under stressful conditions.
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
May be required to support mobility functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
1. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques for the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness of the program and/or strategic sourcing.
2. Knowledge of overall missions, functions, and organization of the agency or component. Ability to apply the knowledge to evaluate current organizational strategies and performance.
3. Knowledge of organizational concepts, principles, and practices as related to the requirements for performance-based logistics, acquisition., supply maintenance, procurement procedures, manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and other support areas.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with accuracy, and maintain good working relations with all individuals and organizations.
5. Ability to work with, lead, and manage various groups or individuals to resolve difficult problems/situations as related to organizational issues. Ability to understand and deploy lean concepts in problem resolution.
6. Skill in interpreting and applying complex DOD, USAF, AFMC, and AFSC regulations, methods, operating procedures, and policies, as well as developing methods and operating procedures as required.
