OVERALL JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of all aspects of the longwall mining system by maximizing efficiencies by effectively utilizing the resources provided. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Plans, directs and monitors all activity for longwall maintenance including recovery, rebuild, and. Setup. Coordinates support of longwall, maintenance and outby crews with appropriate mine management. Responsible for attaining optimum level of operating and cost efficiency for longwall maintenance activities. Recommends and implements improvements in equipment and maintenance methods. Conducts meetings and organizes training to improve overall longwall performance. Sets goals, priorities, and standards through communication and cooperation with all departments. Responsible for recommending longwall equipment selection/modifications. Will play an active role in contracts, equipment specifications, warranties. Approves longwall material and supply orders to an authorized approval level.Coordinates longwall maintenance with the maintenance department and shift coordinators to minimize downtime.
