Job description

POSITION:    District-Wide Translator and Cultural Liaison

LOCATION:    Tri-City United Schools

STARTING DATE:    Workshop week is the last week of August

WAGE:    $22.25/hour, 183 days per year, 7.5 hours per day 

BENEFITS:    Insurance, retirement, and paid time off    

REPORTS TO:    Director of Teaching & Learning

POSITION DETAILS:     

The Translator/Cultural Liaison facilitates communication between minority students, their families and the school district. The Translator/Cultural Liaison encourages and empowers  all minorities to become active participants in the educational activities and programs of their children. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure successful education for all minority students. Assists parents by responding to the needs of students and their families, supports development of healthy, positive family attitudes toward academic success, attendance at school, and student development; provides information about locating resources, and developing the skills necessary to advocate for their individual, family and cultural needs within the school.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS:    

Facilitates and improves communication between the school, students and families

  • Provides language interpretation between school, staff, students and families as needed
  • Translates written material as necessary and as approved by school administration
  • Acts as a liaison between the school, staff, and families
