The Department of Medicine is a recognized leader in world-class research, innovative education, and outstanding patient care. The largest department in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, includes 14 divisions with over 1100 academic and clinical faculty, students, residents, and fellows, supported by more than 300 health, technical, and support staff to help achieve our goal of improving health and health care locally and globally.

Connect Care, the AHS provincial electronic health records system launched in 2019, provides a single access point, and data resource for complete, up to date health information on all Albertans.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
An MD (or equivalent) with certification in a sub-specialty of Internal Medicine with a focus in Cardiovascular Health
Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
A strong scientific track record as an independent investigator, a research background in cardiovascular health and proven experience in translational sciences
Expertise and accomplishments in education and mentorship
Success in applying for independent peer-reviewed research funding
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships that bring a variety of stakeholders and multi-disciplinary researchers together
The position is linked to leadership of the CVC and the CVC Chair in Cardiovascular Science, which will provide operational funding for a translational research program hosted by the CVC to advance knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment, and enhancement of cardiovascular health.
