Job Description
As a Security Officer Transitional Shelter in Long Island City, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Transitional Shelters. As an Unarmed Security Officer at a Transitional Shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support residents, visitors, and staff with exceptional customer service. You will commnicate clearly, respond to routine concerns, and contribute to a welcoming environment while reflecting Allied Universal's agile, reliable, innovative, caring, team-oriented, and integrity-driven values.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents, resident concerns, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of residential buildings, common areas, entry points, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization as required by site procedures, and report unusual conditions or maintenance concerns.
  • Document incidents, observations, and daily activities accurately in required logs and reports.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
