Job Summary The ParkingEnforcement Associate will enforce the University of Southern Mississippitraffic and parking regulations throughout all campuses. The ParkingEnforcement Associate will also act as an ambassador for the university,providing directions, explaining parking regulations to visitors and members ofthe community, and assisting individuals in complying with the traffic andparking regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities - Enforces University parking regulations and traffic laws; interprets and explains parking regulations to the public and ensures consistent enforcement.
- Issues citations for parking violations, such as parking in no-parking zones, wrong zone, no permit, expired meters and other types of illegal parking.
- Attaches vehicle boots and arranges towing services for vehicles as necessary.
- Engages in communication with drivers to provide information and guidance. Utilizes positive communication techniques when interacting with the public.
- Assists with painting and general maintenance to event equipment, lots and signage.
- Works parking for special events, including nights and weekends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsHighschool diploma or general education degree (GED).
Avalid Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Ability to operate department motor vehicles.
- Skill in conflict resolution and de-escalation.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to learn and use the work-related computer software programs.
