Job description

Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with a "Passenger" endorsement and a clean driving record.
JOB SUMMARY
Performs skilled work in the operation of passenger buses vans and paratransit vans for a public transit system.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Operates transit buses, vans on fixed routes, door-to-door routes, and others as assigned.
  • Loads and unloads passengers; loads, properly secures, and unloads wheelchair passengers.
  • Observes all state and federal laws for safe operation of vehicles.
  • Performs pre-trip walk-around of assigned vehicle.
  • Fuels and cleans interior of vehicle; reports any vehicle problems to supervisor and writes up repair order at beginning and end of shift.
  • Participates in training activities and safety/staff meetings.
  • Prepares driver statistical and performance reports.
  • Observes proper fare collection procedures.
  • Interact with public respectfully and professionally.
  • Assists elderly and disabled passengers.
  • Maintains proper communication with dispatch concerning stops.
  • May assist in training new drivers; performs related work as required.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year operating comparable class vehicles (transit bus, school bus, paratransit van, etc.) including or supplemented by work involving public contact; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (Class B with "P" endorsement) and a clean driving record. Subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
Special Requirements
All applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing; individual in this position will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing.
