Position Summary

The Transformer Field Technician I plays a key role in supporting field operations related to transformer assembly, oil processing, maintenance, and decommissioning. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals seeking to build a technical career within the transformer service industry. The role involves hands-on mechanical and electrical work, extensive travel, and strict adherence to safety procedures.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assemble transformer components, including radiators, bushings, conservators, and ancillary hardware.

• Perform degassing, vacuum, and pressure testing using degasification units and other specialized equipment.

• Re-gasket transformer components; fabricate O-rings or gaskets as required for field conditions.

• Assist with transformer teardown, preparation for transport, and dismantling for disposal.

• Identify and troubleshoot basic electrical and mechanical issues in the field.

• Complete assigned daily work orders accurately, maintaining clear documentation of tasks performed.

• Inspect, operate, and maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in a safe and compliant manner.

• Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage, fall protection, lockout/tagout, and procedures for noise and electrical hazard environments.

• Support operational efficiency by reporting potential customer leads, project opportunities, or site observations to the sales team.

Experience & Skill Requirements

• Up to three (3) years of experience in transformer service, oil processing, assembly, or related mechanical/electrical work.
