Job description

Transdev is hiring a Utility Supervisor. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

• Competitive compensation package of Minimum $53,800 - Maximum $63,806.00
Benefits include:
• Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

OVERVIEW:
The Utility Supervisor reports directly to the Maintenance Manager in fulfilling daily operations, including but not limited to:
  • The supervision of Utility staff members and coaching employees for optimal performance and complying with all Company policies.
  • Conducts a walk around the premises prior to beginning the day's activities to evaluate the operation.
  • Documenting of items related to safety, checking parking conditions, random inspection of buses, cleanliness of the location, office and shop conditions, and all other items related to this evaluation.
  • Reporting results to the Maintenance Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Demonstrates and promotes a "Safety First" lifestyle at the location.
  2. Responsible for coaching and counseling of utility staff members through documentation based on observed failure to perform the job in a safe manner and in accordance with Company and client specifications and just cause.
  3. Ensures that all vehicles are fueled daily and ensures that all vehicles have daily fluid checks.
  4. Ensures that fare boxes are probed, emptied daily, and in working order.
  5. Oversees major detailing per client and Company specifications.
  6. Ensures that all buses are washed, and the interior is cleaned nightly.
  7. Responsible for nightly vehicle accountability report.
  8. Oversees the staging of buses to ensure that they are parked correctly.
  9. Control of inventory, ordering cleaning supplies, and make recommendations on cleaning products.
  10. Make sure that all vehicles are swept clean - no sweeping on the ground at the fuel island.
  11. Make sure all vehicle power switches are turned off and all windows are closed.
  12. Report any defects that are found (lights out, tire air low).
  13. Maintains an orderly work area. The work area shall be organized and clean before, during, and after the work shift. Also, responsible for shop cleanliness.
  14. Other duties as they relate to the efficient operation at the facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-3 year's previous supervisory experience.
  3. 2-3 year's related work experience.
  4. Experience dealing with the Union and working in the transportation industry a must.
  5. Valid CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsements or ability to obtain a yard permit.
  6. Must be able to demonstrate tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.
  7. Must possess ability to lead and motivate employees.
  8. Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
  9. General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.
  10. Must be able to work as a member of the team.
  11. Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
  12. Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift or handle material weighing up to 50 to 75 lbs. without assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
