Job description

Overview This role is for a music composer to create a custom solo piano composition that tells a romantic story through music. The project involves writing original sheet music tailored for a skilled pianist, capturing a narrative arc that reflects milestones in a relationship. The piece should be expressive, personal, and emotionally resonant, blending original themes with piano-only transcriptions of existing melodies for seamless storytelling.

Responsibilities Compose a solo piano piece titled "Hammocks and Hurricanes: Nocturne #13". Structure the composition to follow the emotional arc: hesitant beginnings, playful intimacy, miscommunication, reconciliation, hurricane adversity, airport farewell, and a hopeful ending. Integrate piano-only transcriptions of Cody Johnson's "Nothing on You" (lyrics expressed in piano melody) and the reflective section of "Konstantine" (Something Corporate, 7:54 onward).

Weave motifs of 13 as a central theme, with subtle references to 27 and 05. Provide professionally notated sheet music that can be played by a skilled pianist. Ensure seamless transitions between sections and reference melodies for a cohesive musical journey.

Optional: provide an audio demo or MIDI rendering for reference alongside the score. Requirements Proven experience in composing solo piano works, preferably with a romantic or narrative style. Strong skills in harmony, melodic development, and thematic storytelling through music.

Ability to create piano transcriptions of vocal melodies and integrate them naturally into original composition. Proficiency in music notation software such as Sibelius, Finale, or MuseScore. Capability to deliver high-quality, performance-ready sheet music.

Sensitivity to emotional detail and symbolism in musical storytelling. Prior experience composing for personal commissions or bespoke projects is an advantage. #J-18808-Ljbffr
