Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, Investments, Brookfield is seeking an Associate to join the Brookfield Energy investments team in Toronto.

Brookfield Energy invests in and operates one of the world's largest renewable power and sustainable solutions platforms, with assets across hydro, wind, solar, storage, nuclear services, carbon capture, renewable natural gas, recycling and other transition-related businesses. The team is focused on investing behind long-term structural trends, including growing demand for power, electrification, energy security, industrial decarbonization and the build-out of digital infrastructure.

The Associate will support the evaluation and execution of investments across renewable power, transition infrastructure and hard-to-abate sectors, focused on North America, including opportunities for the Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF) and other Brookfield strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Build financial models, valuation analyses and return assessments for new investment opportunities.
  • Conduct company, sector and market research to support investment theses and diligence.
  • Assess key value drivers, risks, financing structures and potential transaction outcomes.
  • Support the sourcing, evaluation and execution of investments across renewable power, infrastructure, sustainable solutions, and business transformation and partnership opportunities.
  • Evaluate decarbonization impact in line with Brookfield's transition investment framework.
  • Work with Brookfield operating teams to support commercial, operational and technical diligence.
  • Prepare investment committee materials and transaction documentation.
  • Support workstreams related to post-investment development opportunities, emissions reduction, operational improvement and value creation.
  • Contribute to a disciplined, collaborative and performance-oriented team culture.

Key Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in investment banking or a related field.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to independently manage multiple priorities.
  • Sound commercial judgment and attention to detail.
  • Interest in energy, infrastructure, industrials, and the energy transition; experience in energy, power, infrastructure, or industrials considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
