As an Assistant Project Manager Hydro, you will play a key leadership role in the daily coordination and management of assigned hydroelectric infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be accountable for supporting all phases of project execution, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and client expectations.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Support the implementation of the company's Health & Safety Program, promoting a strong safety culture and monitoring compliance by all project personnel and subcontractors.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction activities for hydroelectric projects, including dams, power stations, penstocks, and related civil works.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Superintendent and site teams to ensure smooth field execution and alignment with project milestones.
  • Contribute to procurement processes, including preparing scopes of work, assisting in subcontractor selection, and monitoring subcontractor performance.
  • Track and analyze project costs, assist with budget forecasting, and support monthly billing and cost reporting.
  • Prepare and contribute to internal and external progress reports, ensuring transparency on project status, risks, and financial health.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, consultants, engineers, and stakeholders, addressing issues proactively and professionally.
  • Participate in project meetings, support documentation and change management processes, and ensure quality control standards are upheld on site.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and interns, promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team

What We Are Looking For

  • Background in heavy civil construction with a strong emphasis on hydroelectric or water infrastructure projects.
  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in project coordination or management roles within the infrastructure or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety, environmental regulations, and project execution best practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, contract documents, specifications, and construction schedules.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and a proactive mindset to anticipate and address project challenges.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (especially MS Project or Primavera); experience with project management platforms such as Viewpoint or Procore is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a strong asset for projects in certain regions.
  • Willingness to work on-site in remote project locations as required
