Training Development Professional information

What is a training development professional?

Training Development Professionals are specialists who design, implement, and evaluate programs that help employees improve their skills and knowledge within an organization. They assess training needs, develop instructional materials, and deliver workshops or seminars to enhance workforce performance. These professionals often collaborate with management to ensure training aligns with company goals and may also utilize technology-based learning platforms. Their work is crucial for employee development and organizational growth.

What are some common challenges training development professionals face when designing learning programs, and how can they overcome them?

Training Development Professionals often encounter challenges such as addressing diverse learning styles, ensuring content relevance, and keeping learners engaged. To overcome these, it's important to conduct thorough needs assessments, integrate a variety of instructional methods (like e-learning, workshops, and hands-on activities), and regularly update materials based on feedback and industry trends. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders also helps ensure the training aligns with organizational goals and learner needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a training development professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Training Development Professional, you need expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and curriculum development, often supported by a degree in education, HR, or a related field. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools like Articulate or Captivate, and relevant certifications such as CPLP or ATD are typically required. Strong communication, creativity, and analytical thinking help deliver engaging and effective training experiences. These skills ensure that learning programs are impactful, tailored to organizational needs, and drive measurable employee development.

Community Sales Director – External Business Development

Arbor Terrace Morris Plains | Morris Plains, NJ
Salary: $70,000–$75,000 + Incentive Compensation

Build Relationships. Grow Our Community. Make an Impact.

Are you a relationship-driven sales professional who knows how to turn connections into results?

Arbor Terrace Morris Plains is seeking a Community Sales Director with a strong focus on external business development, professional referral relationships, and lead generation.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Lead Community Sales Director to grow awareness of Arbor Terrace Morris Plains throughout the local market, develop strong referral partnerships, and connect prospective residents and families with a senior living community they can feel confident calling home.

If you thrive on getting out into the community, building meaningful professional relationships, generating new leads, and creating a strong pipeline, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

As Community Sales Director, your primary focus will be external business development and lead generation.

You will:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with professional referral sources throughout the Morris Plains market

  • Build partnerships with physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health providers, elder care professionals, and other local organizations

  • Consistently generate new qualified leads and referral opportunities

  • Create and execute strategic outreach plans designed to increase awareness and occupancy

  • Represent Arbor Terrace Morris Plains at networking events, community events, professional meetings, and outreach opportunities

  • Plan and execute events that strengthen referral relationships and generate prospective resident interest

  • Follow up consistently with referral partners, prospects, and families

  • Partner closely with the Lead Community Sales Director to support the overall sales strategy and occupancy goals

  • Maintain accurate sales activity and lead information within the CRM

  • Track outreach efforts and use results to continuously strengthen business development strategies

  • Serve as an active member of the community leadership team

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is outgoing, strategic, organized, and energized by building relationships. You should be comfortable spending significant time outside of the community developing new business and strengthening referral partnerships.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of sales, marketing, or business development experience; senior living or healthcare experience preferred

  • Proven success in external business development and lead generation

  • Strong ability to develop and maintain professional referral relationships

  • Experience with networking, event planning, and community outreach

  • Results-driven approach with the ability to build and manage a strong sales pipeline

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong follow-up, organization, and relationship-building skills

  • Experience working with CRM systems

  • Compassionate approach when working with seniors and their families

Compensation

Base Salary: $70,000–$75,000 annually

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position offers the opportunity to earn performance-based incentive compensation tied to results such as move-ins, revenue, and occupancy goals.

Actual total earnings will vary based on individual performance and business results.
