WestCoast Children's Clinic, located in Oakland, California, is a non-profit community psychology clinic that provides mental health services to Bay Area children, youth and families. Position Details
Title: CSEC Training Associate
Classification: Full-Time Non-Exempt (Hourly), 40 hours per week
Location: Oakland, CA / Hybrid
Compensation:
  • Rate is $32.00-$36.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Position:
WestCoast Children's Clinic (WCC) is seeking a CSEC Training Associate to support statewide training providers to better support and care for exploited minors. The position draws on experience of supporting vulnerable youth to provide support and guidance to providers, family and community members who are a source of strength for the youth.
The Training Associate supports WestCoast Children's Clinic's training programs as they relate to the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) as well as labor trafficking of children and youth. The components of the CSEC training program may range from orientation to the issue of CSEC to in-depth, multi-day trainings and workshops. Topics may include trauma-informed care when working with exploited youth, harm reduction, engagement strategies, screening and identification, multidisciplinary teams, working with caregivers, special populations, policies and laws pertaining to CSEC and labor trafficking, managing secondary trauma. Trainees may include participants with little exposure to the subject matter and participants with significant experience. The Training Associate should be comfortable speaking to audiences with diverse backgrounds and expertise, including caregivers, family members, child welfare professionals, probation and juvenile justice professionals, law enforcement, educators, health professionals, and others. The role also supports development of training curriculum in accordance to the training plan and goals.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Delivers and supports implementation of CSEC/LT trainings, including new or revised training curricula and materials. Learns new curricula in-depth.
  • Exercises cultural responsiveness through ongoing efforts to engage diverse individuals, groups, and communities in the training program.
  • Helps promote trainings and related programs and educational events.
  • Provides feedback on training curricula and training processes.

Key Qualifications:
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting vulnerable youth in professional settings.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or understanding the needs of sexually exploited, high-risk and transition-age youth in foster care or probation.
  • Experience developing and delivering trainings or presentations.
  • Candidate should be aware of the impact of their life experiences (including potentially traumatic experiences), have established self-care routines, and are prepared to sustainably engage in training, which includes setting boundaries when needed. For caregivers and survivors in this role, WestCoast staff will never ask candidates to disclose details of their experiences and will help redirect such questions from outside parties and training participants.
  • Comfort presenting to large groups and receiving evaluations on performance.
  • Clean CA DMV record, current car insurance, and ability to travel
