Job Description
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative, clerical and secretarial support for the Workforce Training Center. This is accomplished by performing a variety of clerical duties; processing payments and balancing monies; providing support for contract training courses; administering the noncredit scholarship fund; maintaining various databases; monitoring course start dates; assembling course packets; proofreading reports, schedules, brochures and flyers; receiving and directing phone calls; assisting with marketing programs; composing correspondence; ordering supplies, processing purchase requisitions and direct payment vouchers and other budgetary documents; maintaining budget records; processing payrolls and audit reports; assisting the registration department; reviewing and correcting online registrations; performing file and record management; preparing instructor documents; assisting visitors; and checking program progress. Other duties include serving on various committees and membership in professional organizations; preparing newsletters; assisting with the coordination of special events and projects; assisting with registration desk duties; receiving and distributing mail; assisting with instructor on-boarding, course book order processing, section building, performing monthly contract training billing, managing various aspects of grants as received by the college and play a primary role in the development, implementation of the processes and ongoing management.
This is a full-time, exempt staff position

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

  • Attention to detail when entering data, preparing reports, and or assist in arranging events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for preparing memos, reports, agendas, and minutes.
  • Ability to accurately compile instructor packets, managing enrollments, and grading courses.
  • Excellent customer service abilities to greet, advise, and assist a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Budget management skills to include processing orders and budget monitoring.

Previous experience in a similar role
Previous experience working in secondary and or higher education 
Hours per Week 40 - 100% General Weekly Work Schedule
General work schedule is 40 hours per week, to be scheduled Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. An occasional evening or weekend shift will be required. The final schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
