Job description

PURPOSE

The Training and Development Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting training programs for ibml field service technicians, service partners, and internal teams.

This role will create and maintain training materials, work closely with subject matter experts to support course development and delivery, and establish a continuous learning model that strengthens employee knowledge, skills, and performance. The position will also support the use and administration of the companyโ€™s learning management system to assign, track, document, and report on training and certification progress.

The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design skills, effective communication, excellent organization, and a passion for developing others. This role is critical to improving service quality, workforce readiness, consistency, and customer satisfaction.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization, including Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Technical Publications, to design and develop training programs.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to deliver instructor-led, hands-on, virtual, and self-paced training.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, including course content, manuals, presentations, videos, assessments, job aids, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Establish and maintain a continuous training model that includes onboarding, recurring training, refresher courses, product updates, and certification requirements.
  • Support the administration and ongoing use of the companyโ€™s learning management system, including course assignments, completion tracking, reporting, and certification records.
  • Coordinate training for field service technicians, internal teams, and third-party service partners on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and service procedures.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, participant feedback, certification results, and field performance metrics.
  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps across the service organization and recommend targeted training and development solutions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Service teams to remain current on product updates, process changes, new releases, and service requirements.
  • Coordinate the communication and distribution of service bulletins, product updates, and training materials to ibml employees and service partners.
  • Support new product launches by developing training content, coordinating subject matter experts, and ensuring service teams are prepared to support the product.
  • Provide field-based coaching, on-the-job training, and development support as needed to reinforce learning and improve knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure training programs align with company procedures, safety standards, quality expectations, and service best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records and monitor employee and partner certification progress.
  • Continuously improve training content, delivery methods, and learning tools based on business needs, participant feedback, and performance results.
  • Travel up to 10% to support training delivery, field coaching, and service initiatives.

PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working in field service, equipment maintenance, manufacturing, service operations, training, or a related environment.
  • Prior experience in training, instructional design, course development, mentoring, coaching, or employee development is strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating training materials, job aids, presentations, assessments, videos, or instructional content.
  • Experience using or administering a learning management system is preferred.
  • Ability to work with subject matter experts and convert complex information into clear, structured, and practical learning content.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts to individuals with varying levels of knowledge and experience.
  • Strong organizational, project coordination, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple training initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
