Job Summary

A personal trainer is responsible for developing and implementing a specialized exercise regimen for their clients. A personal trainer has the knowledge and experience to ensure the client's fitness program meets the needs of the client and may include elements such as physical fitness, nutrition, cardiovascular training, and weight training. In addition, the personal trainer offers guidance and support to clients in order to achieve their goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be able to instruct clients one-on-one through individualized fitness programs
  • Be able to instruct clients through small group fitness programs
  • Plan fitness programs based on a client's needs and the results they desire to achieve
  • Attend all required meetings/training for Club and Personal Training Staff
  • Be able to conduct initial consults with potential clients to establish a client's fitness goals and build rapport with the client
  • Learn required skills to perform fitness assessments and orientations
  • Apply education and experience to develop safe and effective personalized fitness programs for clients, including cardiovascular, strength training, and flexibility components, based on their goals and motivations
  • Enhance knowledge through continuing education to build skill set
  • Maintain accurate paperwork for clients and sessions
  • Enforcement of Club policy and procedures
  • Communicate any equipment problems, member concerns, or suggestions with the Personal Training manager
  • Work together as a team with other Club Personal Trainers
  • Establish revenue goals and assess if these goals are being met each month
  • Work with Personal Training manager to provide content to Signals and develop fitness workshops and seminars for members

Benefits and Pay

Hourly: $17.13 + Commission

Full-time employees and, optionally for additional cost, their families are able to enroll for coverage by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan after one year.

Full-time employees will also accrue vacation based on hours work to a maximum of ten days per year and six paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have a nationally accredited personal training certification (i.e. ACSM, ACE, AFAA, or NASM)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Wellness, Exercise Science/Physiology, Fitness, Nutrition, Athletic Training, or a related field preferred
  • Experience programming or teaching health/fitness related seminars, along with the ability to lead and participate in exercise/wellness activities. Knowledge of sound nutrition, exercise physiology, anatomy, and kinesiology
  • Experience in personal training is preferred, but we will train the right person
  • Specific knowledge and ability in fitness instruction as well as preventative measures in health and fitness
  • First aid, CPR, and AED certified
  • The ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive attitude; takes pride and ownership in job
  • Strong customer service skills to create an atmosphere of genuine care for members and guests to provide a high level of personalized service
  • Ability to think and act quickly, problem solve, and perform
