Position Summary
The Clinical Pharmacist - Specialty Pharmacy plays a vital role in ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication therapy for patients at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. This position is responsible for verifying the accuracy of drug dispensing, evaluating physician orders, and actively monitoring patient drug therapy to optimize outcomes. The pharmacist collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to address pharmacotherapy needs, ensure adherence to medical center drug-use policies, and deliver education to clinicians, trainees, and patients. They also support coordinating with other members of the specialty team to ensure patients have access to medications through manufacturer assistance programs, prescription assistance, and through the use of other Penn State resources.
The Clinical Pharmacist serves as a trusted clinical expert, driving evidence-based decision-making while supporting Penn State Health's vision to be Pennsylvania's most trusted healthcare organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy required.
  • ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy residency or three (3) years of relevant clinical pharmacy experience required.
  • Active and valid PA licensure or eligibility as a Pharmacist required.
